Dear lovers of European travel and adventure,
This group is intended for those who have always dreamed of traveling to Italy, and would like to go with someone who speaks Italian, is knowledgeable of the region, and who wants to see and discover things that are far beyond what you may discover by following your average tour leader or travel guide. I thought to do this, upon the encouragement of my students, to become a tour guide and show people some of the many places that I have seen in my many travels abroad.
About myself, I previously lived in Rome in 2003, where I developed a strong desire to study the Renaissance as an artist, and as an historian. I earned a BFA in studio art, and an MA from the University of Arizona, and recently received my PhD from Arizona State University in the art and architectural history of the Renaissance. I wrote my dissertation on the Torinese architect, Guarino Guarini, and have published a number of papers on Italian art and architecture. I also have twenty-five years of experience as an artist, and have exhibited here in the United States, as well as internationally.
I plan to put together a number of travel adventures, ranging from excursions to incredible and often unseen works of art and architecture, to even possibly art trips for artists who want to explore art making in Italy, from stone carving to plein air painting.
